Filtration

Every filtration system is unique and individual. A system developed for A in Dublin does not yield the same results for B in Cork nor C in Galway. This is the 'black magic' or 'witchcraft' that we encounter in filtration and make the professional quest interesting, if not downright puzzling. With our combined experience of 50 years, Hall Pyke has the knowledge to take the 'black magic' and 'witchcraft' out of the filtration business. As agents for Microfiltrex, Zander and RPA Process Technologies in Ireland, Hall Pyke have the product and technical expertise to supply industry with a first class service.

Depth Cartridge Filters

Suitable as either prefilters or final filters, Microfiltrex has a comprehensive range of depth filter cartridges. Depending on the cartridge series, they are available in removal ratings from 0.5 to 90 microns absolute (Beta 5000 or 99.98% efficiency).

Klearfil cartridges represent the latest development in filtration technology featuring a hybrid design which combines a true depth filter media with a pleated construction. They have outstanding dirt holding capacity which can extend the cartridge life between two and ten times when compared with cartridges of similar specification. They have gained an excellent reputation for providing high standards of filtration when used in pure water supply system and applications in the beverage, semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries.

Polyfil II cartridges feature a pleated melt blown polypropylene media which is laminated and calendared. This gives Polyfil II cartridges up to five layers of filtration media, providing the benefits of high surface area and graduated filtration. Polyfil II Cartridges have a low clean pressure drop and provides excellent chemical compatibility characteristics and a long service life.

Microfil GP cartridges are manufactured using a borosilicate microfibre media with melt spun polypropylene downstream. They are designed to provide high efficiency filtration in process systems where a low clean pressure drop is necessary.

Membrane Cartridge Filters

The Microfiltrex range of membrane cartridges are designed to provide sub-micron filtration from 0.04 to 1.2 microns (absolute microbial). Each membrane has been selected to give a range of cartridges which combine high performance filtration with high flow rates and the ability to be repeatedly integrity tested. The membrane cartridges are suitable for particulate or microbial reduction in critical applications including sterilisation by filtration.

Biofil PES cartridges with a hydrophilic membrane have a unique mirrored asymmetric structure which gives the media added strength and very low clean pressure drops. The characteristics of the membrane also results in excellent resistance to hydrolysis, along with low protein binding and colour stripping.

Hydrofil cartridges are manufactured with a hydrophilic Nylon 6 membrane with a twin layer asymmetric cross section. The Hydrofil range has been developed to give value for money by providing customers with high performance filtration over an extended service life. They are suitable for numerous industrial applications ranging from pure water supply systems to the manufacture of semiconductors.

Fluorofil cartridges are manufactured using expanded PTFE membrane. They rely on the media being chemically inert and hydrophobic to repel aqueous based liquids. Fluorofil cartridges have a high voids volume, thereby providing low clean pressure drops and a long service life. The Fluorofil Plus cartridge has a wider bore and a stainless steel reinforce core and is particularly suitable for high flow gas applications.
Microfiltrex can also supply a wide range of housings in both industrial and sanitary grade.

Zander

Zander are one of the leading specialists in the purification of compressed air and gases. Their system solutions offer the most economic and reliable qualities that are required today and tomorrow. Zander purification systems are applied to supply optimal results no matter which type of air you need. All products in the Zander range are developed and manufactured in line with ISO 9001 guidelines.

Zander

The Zander range includes:

Microfilter
Compressed air, gas and vacuum filters Compressed air filters are now recognised as being an integral part of any system. Zander Microfilters offer an unique solution to compressed air purification. With a choice of connections, filter elements, filter heads, condensate drains and the ability to combine two or more units, systems are manufactured to meet the end users needs.

Condensate drains
Whenever air is compressed for technical applications, the process always produces condensate. Even small compressors produce considerable quantities of oily, acidic condensate. Conventional solenoid drains allow considerable amounts of compressed air to escape and energy is wasted. The fully electronic ecodrain LS condensate drain from Zander only allows the unwanted condensate out of the compressed air system. The ecodrain LS ensures efficient, automatic drainage, taking into account fluctuations in condensate due to temperature, pressure, system load etc.

Steam Filter elements
Steam is used in many areas of the pharmaceutical industry, food and beverage industry for sterilisation of containers, piping and filter systems. Steam can pick up a considerable amount of rust particles and pipe scale during generation and conveyance through the pipe system. It is therefore of enormous importance that the steam is prepared using a suitable method of filtration with the Zander steam filter series D, HS-DPL corresponding to the application.

Oil/Water separators
Water authorities insist on low levels of oil pollution in waste water. Figures of 20mg per litre are common. Generally compressed air has far more oil than 20mg per litre. With correct sizing of the ecosep S it is possible to achieve an oil content in water of 10mg per litre or below which can be discharged into the effluent system. The ecosep S offers the compressed air user the security of knowing that they will be meeting the strict requirement for waste water pollution. It is far cheaper to process compressor condensate with an ecosep S than to use a waste disposal firm or risk a large fine. The modular construction of the ecosep S means that the unit is economical to buy and run. It pays for itself in peace of mind and cost savings.

Headline Filters

Headline Filters is a premier manufacturer of filter elements and housings for the gas analysis and instrumentation market. These filters are suitable for a variety of applications and are used in a wide range of industries throughout the world. Headline disposable bonded microfibre filter elements are extremely efficient as well as being low cost. The benefits of this type of element are high flow rates with very low pressure drops and long service life. All products conform to industry-standard sizes. Headline filter housings and elements are suitable for a wide range of gas filtration applications for both particulate removal and coalescing of liquid aerosols. For applications requiring extreme inertness or high strength stainless steel and PTFE filter elements are also available.

Healine Filters

Bonded Microfibre Filter Elements
Headline disposable filter elements are manufactured from precise mixtures of borosilicate glass microfibres, to the very highest standards of quality control. These elements offer exceptional filtration efficiency at very low pressure drops and with a 90+% void volume, give very long service life. The elements are self-gasketing and easily sealed into the housing by axial compression. There are four different types of elements available depending on the application. Each element type is available in a wide range of grades of efficiency from coarse bulk contamination removal and the essentially complete removal of submicron particles. Each rated filter under goes testing using the particles in the critical size range. These particles between 0.3 - 0.6 microns are only affected by direct interception and not inertial impaction or diffusion. This ensures that using particles of this size ensures the most searching test is applied. The microbiological research establishment at Porton Down confirmed that a filter with an efficiency of 99.997% against these particles will provide a sterile air stream. The main difference between a sterile air filter and a high efficiency coalescing filter with the same efficiency is the fact that the sterile filter would have a bacterially validated element and each one would be tested prior to despatch. The sterile filter would have a stainless steel housing and the stainless steel filter can be inline steam sterilised. The high efficiency compressed air filter will have an aluminium housing.

Stainless Steel Filter Elements
Stainless steel filter elements are made up of several layers of 316 mesh that are sintered together to form an integrated porous element. The middle mesh is of very fine gauge and determines the filtration efficiency of the elements. This layer is then overlaid with inner and outer layers of coarser mesh, to give support and protection. As contaminants are retained on the surface, cleaning and back flushing becomes a simple process. Stainless steel filter elements are particularly useful in heavily contaminated applications and for use as pre-filters before disposable type final filters.

PTFE Filter Elements
PTFE filter elements are produced by sintering pure PTFE granules, no other substances are used in the construction. These filter elements are usually offered when only 100% pure PTFE can be used. The advantage of PTFE is a high maximum temperature, up to 200 degrees centigrade and somewhat better chemical resistance.

Housings
The comprehensive range of filter housings enables greater flexibility for customers, with a wide choice of standard designs in a variety of materials. Housings are available in a variety of materials, 316L Stainless steel, Aluminium, PTFE, PVDF, Nylon and Polypropylene as well as a range of exotic materials such as Hastelloy, Monel and Titanium. Sizes range from 1/2" to 2" with pressures up to 700 bar. The configuration of the filter housing will depend on the filtration duty.

Headline

To select the correct filter housing, the following information is required:

  • Pressure and temperature of the gas at the filter housing
  • Chemical & physical composition of the gas
  • Contaminants to be removed
  • Type of filtration duty: Inlet, particulate, coalescing, fast loop
  • Flow rate, line size and level of filtration required.
  • Relative importance of cost, response time, ease of service and interval.

Cintropur

Made from top quality synthetic materials, Cintropur filters are ideal for use with food products and drinking water. The Cintropur vane transforms the liquid flow into a centrifugal spin by forcing the larger particles into the lower bowl, depending on the chosen filter sleeve micron-size.

Cintropur

The basic principle behind the Cintropur is the protection of industrial as well as residential and agricultural installations by filtering out the solid particles (earth, sand, rust, etc) suspended in the water. Cintropur has application in Industry (protection of sanitary fittings and machine tools), Agriculture (filtration of watering (spraying) installations, filtration of water for animals, filtration of rainwater and well water) and Hotels/Restaurants/Schools/Buildings (protection of the sanitary installations and all electrical/domestic appliances).

The Cintropur provides a high and constant flow rate with a low pressure drop, the cyclonal effect from the vane provides a degree of centrifugal prefiltration. The Cintropur is a robust and reliable filter that incorporates fast and easy flushing and permanent visual control of the filter sleeve due to the transparent bowl. It is an exclusive system, ecological and is inexpensive as it utilises a filter sleeve.

The water treatment (TE) models are equipped with a special device that allows the use of different water treatment products such as polyphosphates, silicates and silicon-polyphosphates and activated carbon.

Cintropur
  • The polyphosphates, silicates and silicon-polyphosphates are used to reduce the harmful and scaling effects of the water hardness. The protection of new installations against rust is also a well known application.
  • Activated carbon is suitable for the improvement of taste and the removal of odour, chlorine, ozone, micropolutants such as pesticides and other dissolved organic substances.
