Vacuum Filter Using Industrial Cartridges

Duty: - protecting vacuum pump and environment

Problem:
A leading supplier of vacuum pumps to the pharmaceutical industry had a requirement for a cartridge filter housing that would be suitable for a 2" vacuum line complete with 20-micron cartridges.

Solution:
We had to supply a multi-cartridge housing complete with a closure that would seal under the vacuum and would not bypass.

For this reason we could not use the traditional low cost vee band clamp. We needed to utilise a housing with a three screw-down Rathman clamps. These are often used on large vessels in the pharmaceutical industry. We supplied a 4 round x 20" stainless steel, single openended industrial quality housing with Rathman clamps, 2" BSPM connections.

Cartridges:
The cartridges that we supplied were 20 inch, 20 micron high surface area pleated with single open-ended code 8 push in double o-ring seal for ease of fitting and assurance of a high integrity non bypassing seal. Note: A 20 micron absolute rated liquid cartridge has a rating of approx. 2 microns on gaseous duty. (E & OE)
