Problem:
A manufacturer of compact discs used a 5 inch junior filter cartridge to filter lacquer. There are very few cartridge manufacturers who have the tooling to produce the small 5 inch long unit with a single internal o-ring seal. The majority of manufacturers supply more standard Single Open Ended (S.O.E.).

Solution:

We spoke to them about the benefits in using a standard 10" cartridge particularly that of price versus life.

We also spoke to them about particle size distribution and how important it is to select the right type of filter for an application so as to obtain the best value for money and life. We put particular emphasis on the Klearfil with its graded density prefiltration layers to a level of 40 microns.

We supplied them with a housing and Polyfil high surface area filter cartridges and Klearfil hybrid depth/pleated filter design for a trial.

Result:
Whilst paying more for the 10 inch Klearfil cartridges they were getting many times the life and reduced the pressure drop across the filter.

S.O.E. housings were supplied for this trial as they can be serviced with greater ease and speed than Double Open Ended (D.O.E.) housings. The sealing of an S.O.E. code 7 cartridge with its double o-ring seal is also far superior to that of a D.O.E. flat gasket type. This also helps to reduce operator error in fitting the cartridge properly or tightly as the cartridge is simply pushed fully home into the socket. (E & OE)
